We, at Summit, are so excited about our partnership opportunity with Children’s HopeChest and 3 other Phoenix area churches. Together, we will be working to have a positive impact on the community of La Cuchilla, Guatemala and sponsor over 100 children.

Guatemala Mission Trip: October 2-9, 2025

This fall we are headed to Guatemala to bring hope to kids and families, deepen our faith and come back inspired. We are joining our partner, Children’s HopeChest, as we build connections with kids/teens at our carepoint in LaCuchilla, meet local families, and encourage our carepoint leaders.

During our week, we will get to:

* See firsthand what God is doing in LaCuchilla where we have sponsored kids/teens for the last 5 years
* Build relationships with kids and share the love of Jesus at the LaCuchilla Carepoint playing games and sports, crafts and teaching about Jesus
* Encourage the LaCuchilla Carepoint Staff
* Interact with people within the local community and possibly run an eye clinic
* Experience Guatemala with a cultural day

Dates: October 2-9, 2025

Cost: $1,350, plus airfare and Antigua cultural days (excursions and food). Registration is now open through July 31.

Lodging: Hotel stays in each of the cities that are visited. Most rooms are double occupancy but there may be options for individual rooms at an additional cost.

Participants: This mission trip is made up of participants from Summit and our 3 other partner churches in Phoenix. Summit will be the lead church in organizing the October Mission and Niki Stewart will be attending.

How You Can Participate

* Become a Sponsor to a child in La Cuchilla. There currently are 7 kids in need of a sponsor. Sponsorship is $45/month.
* Become a gift donor to facilitate development projects that enhance the self-sustainability and long-term improvement of La Cuchilla including a vegetable garden, playground, and house remodeling for programming.
* Participate in mission trips to La Cuchilla (Next Trip is Oct. 2-9)
* Pray for the La Cuchilla Friendship Ministry and community

Becoming a Child’s Sponsor

When you become a Sponsor, you show a child they are valuable and worth loving. Being a sponsor enables you to enjoy the unique opportunity to have a one-on-one personal relationship with a child living in La Cuchilla. Through letters, photos, and even potential mission visits, you will have an opportunity to build a friendship that can last a lifetime and provide hope for a vulnerable child.

Responsibilities of a Sponsor

* Keep your sponsored child in prayer
* Write letters to your child at least 3 times per year
* Optional mission visits to see your child
* Cost is $45 per month which supports the nutritional, educational, emotional and spiritual needs of your child. There is engaging discipleship programming that happens weekly teaching the kids about Jesus.
