Our Beliefs

We believe that God cares deeply about our world—and that He offers new life to all who trust in Him!  You are invited to join us as we seek God’s direction for our future and everyday life.

We live in an age when the truth is up for grabs.  At Summit, we are unshakable in our belief that God has been at work throughout history and still changes lives today.  Truth is not defined by our feelings or opinions; it is revealed through the Bible.  Based upon His Word, these are our core beliefs and non-negotiables:

God is the creator and ruler of our universe.  He has eternally existed and revealed himself in three equal persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19-20, 2 Corinthians 13:14)

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, revealing Himself in human flesh.  Jesus died on the cross for the sins of all people and rose from the dead, proving His power.  He ascended to heaven and will return again in power.  Through repentance and faith in Christ, we can experience new life. (Matthew 1:22-23, John 1:1-5, John 14:6, Romans 1:3-4, Acts 1:9-11)

The Holy Spirit was promised by Jesus and actively works in our world today.  He provides Christians power to understand God’s Word, follow what is right and have courage to live by faith. (John 16:7-13, Acts 1:8, 2 Corinthians 3:16-17, Galatians 5:22-23, Ephesians 1:13-14)

Jesus came into the world to give us new life. No matter what has happened in your past, there is nothing that can separate you from God’s love, forgiveness and a fresh start with Him. God calls us to humble ourselves, confess our sin and put our faith in what Jesus has done for us. (2 Corinthians 5:17-18, Ephesians 2:4-10, Colossians 3: 1-4)

The Bible is the inspired Word of God, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit.  It is the ultimate source of truth for all Christ-followers and is the foundation for what we teach and believe.  God’s Word is powerful and changes the lives of those who hear and apply it. (Psalm 119:105, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21)

We believe that we receive Jesus’ body and blood through the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sin and strengthening of faith. (Matthew 26:26-29, 1 Corinthians 10:16-17)

We believe that God’s grace extends to all people—young and old.  Jesus commanded baptism, joining us to his victory over death and the new life he won on the cross.  Baptism is a powerful promise and reminder that God washes away our sins, fills us with the Holy Spirit and makes us a part of His family forever. (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 2:38-41, Romans 6:4)

Our mission is “Leading people who are far from God to courageously follow Jesus”.  When people meet Jesus, lives are changed forever.  Everyone is on a spiritual journey, and we love seeing people take next steps in their faith.  We want to reflect the mission of Jesus Christ.  He came to bring hope to our world.  One life at a time. (2 Corinthians 5:16-21)
